Dive into prompt engineering and watch how the right words can transform AI outputs.

Follow these steps to experiment, play, and discover the impact of well-crafted prompts.

  1. Click here to go to Microsoft's Generative AI product: Copilot

  2. If this is your first time using Copilot, click "Get started"

  3. Type a name in the "Your first name" area

  4. Choose a voice type by clicking each option to preview. Once you’ve picked one, click "Next". (Yes, the AI will talk to you!)

  5. Now let's prompt engineer by asking AI a basic question by typing "create a healthy dinner recipe" in the Message Copilot area. Click the "up arrow" or hit "Enter" send your response to Copilot.

  6. Copilot suggested a "Quinoa Salad with Roasted Vegetables" recipe (your suggestion could be different)

  7. However, I don't like quinoa, so I'm going to let Copilot know by typing: "I don't like quinoa". Click the "up arrow" or hit "Enter" to send your response to Copilot.

  8. Copilot replaced quinoa with farro

  9. I'm going to let Copilot know I'm craving chicken for dinner by typing "Add chicken"

  10. You can keep refining your basic question of "create a healthy dinner recipe". However, it's better to start with a smarter question such as: "create a healthy dinner recipe that has chicken and does not have quinoa"

  11. Smarter questions ensure your recipe aligns with your preferences

Explore the full potential of Copilot by asking anything! Start with basic questions, then try more specific/smarter prompts to unlock richer, more tailored responses. Enjoy experimenting and have fun!
